"Aging in
place" are the concepts and methods that we
can use when we renovate to allow us to remain longer in
our homes as we age and become less mobile. As we
become older we lose the ability to get around as
well as we once did, if we get to a point where we
can no longer walk up our stairs or get in the
bathtub or shower then we are a step closer to
having to leave our homes for the alternative of
an assisted living complex or a nursing
home.
By renovating correctly and using aging in place
products and concepts we can extend the ability to
stay in your home much longer.

In this master bathroom remodel we installed a
walk in bathtub and a more easily accessible and
useable shower. As you can see, aging in
place design does not have to look
'institutional'. Beauty and usability can go
hand-in-hand, allowing our clients to enjoy a
high-quality of life without giving up a beautiful
surrounding.

The bathtub is a high-end model with
whirlpool, air massage and heat, along with many options
that make for a great bathing experience. We also
installed the high speed drain option on this
bathtub. This feature is one that many companies
skip, however the users experience is very
different with and without this feature. With a
walk in bathtub, draining the water may take 5 minutes or longer because of the high volume of
water involved. Sitting for 5 minutes getting cold
waiting for the water to drain enough so you can
open the door to get out is no fun. The quick
drain option drains the bathtub super fast and
avoids this problem.

Grab
bars don't have to look institutional. We often
install 'designer' grab bars that are both
functional and beautiful at the same time.

The installation of a shower head / rail mounted
system allows for unlimited flexibility in the
shower. This allows if
needed to sit on the bench opposite the shower head
and adjust the shower head up or down for whatever
combination needed. The shower head is also removable
and doubles as a hand sprayer.
