This
was one of the tiniest 3/4 bathrooms I have ever been in. The
bathroom is located in the finished basement and is used by house guests.
I had never seen a bathtub this small before. It was so small even a child
would have a hard time using it. I don't know what builders were thinking back then, but
the tub was to torn out and replaced with
a shower.
Basically this
involved gutting the room down to the studs. The room was so small nobody else could
figure out how to even get a shower stall into it. I solved that problem
with a special 3 piece unit that I was able to get into the room in pieces
and then assemble before installation.
Along with all the
other issues, the room had no ventilation so a new smart fan was installed
to solve that problem. If you look closely you can see the new light in
the shower and a custom cedar ceiling which added another benefit of a
really nice cedar smell to the room.
It
was hard to get a good after picture because of the cramped
space, but as you can see, the results are amazing compared to
what we had to start with.

You can see in the small picture what I found
beneath the 1st layer of bathtub surround material. It was probably
pretty snazzy back in the 70's. It's a cactus with a sun setting
behind it just in case you couldn't tell.
