Adding Pocket Doors to a Bathroom

Since your doors open into a bathroom, and most bathrooms are lacking floor space already, a pocket door can be a great feature to add to a bathroom. They are a great problem solver.

As great as pocket doors are they can also be rather expensive. Keep in mind that no electrical outlets can be in the area that the door will slide back into, on either side of the wall. Installing one means moving framing around and also means your project is spilling into the room adjacent to the bathroom. Construction of the pocket door will involve the drywall of the next room, sometimes not just the drywall on the wall, but also the ceiling, this opens up texture matching issues and repainting. You're also going to be dealing with trim in regard to base boards also.

All of these issues can be over come and are just a routine part of retrofitting pocket doors to existing structures. But they will add to and impact the budget.
