Budget Bathroom Remodel

This was a bathroom in search of an identity, it didn't even have a vanity to start with. This small 1/2 bath needed some help in the worst way.

I began by tearing out the floor and replacing it with a nice green mid-priced tile. I knew the flooring would make or break this bathroom so I used a larger tile and a simple pattern to make the room feel a bit bigger. The darker color pulls the eyes down and helps fool the senses that the room is bigger than it is.

This room had a lot of problems to deal with. There was an exposed big black main sewer pipe running down one wall with a clean-out that by code could not be simply  covered up. So I built out the wall about 8 inches and used a simple and inexpensive extra cabinet door face to provide access to it. It was a compromise but was beautiful compared to the way it was before, which was a bathroom that looked like a boiler room!

Budget was important on this project so everything was stock items right off the shelf, but with careful selections and splurging a bit on the faucets the room ends up looking like a million bucks.
