Remodeling a bathroom from the 40s

In homes this old you are often forced to dealing with issues such as old odd sized copper and lead drain lines which don't connect well to modern plumbing, old galvanized hot and cold water feeds, odd sized dimensional lumber, out of code electrical systems and of course plaster and lath walls. This home is only about 800 square feet in total, and this is the only bathroom in the house. The before was so ugly we didn't even bother to take a picture of it, but we should have because the new bathroom is remarkable when you consider what we had to start with.

Of course another factor is that the rooms are always extremely small and totally out of square. Finding a straight wall is practically impossible. But those are the challenges that you face and we like to turn challenges into opportunities to do great things.  To create this bathroom we had to gut the room and install everything new, from the tub to the toilet, the vanity to the lighting. The plumbing system and electrical had to be reworked but the results are a safe and functioning bathroom that the family can enjoy and use for many years to come.
